Chevy Sponsors Windows Live Spaces Eco Trip Team on Cross-Country Trip to
U.S. Live Earth Concert

Four Eco-trippers travel in fuel-efficient Chevy Aveo from Denver to Omaha

June 14, 2007 , Denver – From Wednesday, June 13 through Friday, June 15, four eco-trippers will be traveling through Denver , Colorado then on to Omaha , Nebraska in a Chevrolet Aveo, as one of several stops along the Windows Live Spaces Eco Trip, an environmental awareness tour to the Live Earth concert at Giants Stadium. Live Earth is a 24-hour, 7-continent concert series that will bring together more than 100 of the world’s top music acts to inspire an audience of over two billion people to combat global warming.

June 13th, in Denver , the travelers will visit with the owner at the Organic Berry Patch Farms to learn about local produce and organic farming. On Thursday, June 14th, the road trippers will hand out Environmental Tip cards and Berry Patch strawberries at the 16th Street Mall.

“The Chevy Aveo was the perfect car for these young folks to drive on this leg of their cross country journey,” says Ed Peper, Chevrolet’s General Manager, “with its road-trip friendly features and high fuel economy with 37 miles per gallon on the highway.” Ed goes on to say, “Building cars, like the Chevy Aveo, with better fuel efficiency is just one way Chevy is driving change and reducing our dependence on oil.”

The road trippers, four environmentally active youths from around the country, embarked on the Windows Live Spaces Eco Trip in Seattle , Washington and will end in New York City for the U.S. Live Earth Concert at Giants Stadium on 7.7.07. The Spaces eco trip features the four moving cross-country via environmentally friendly transportation such as trains, bikes, and fuel efficient vehicles, engaging in activities to help further environmental awareness, and chronicling their time on Windows Live Spaces. Read about the travelers and their trip here: http://spacesecotrip.spaces.live.com/

The Eco Trip team will travel from Denver to their next stop in Omaha , Nebraska , in a Chevy Aveo. The Chevy Aveo has ample road-trip features including an iPod jack and standard front and side airbags. All for under $10,000. The Aveo is also one of eight Chevy models that gets over 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Other models include the Aveo5, Cobalt, HHR, Impala, Malibu , Malibu Maxx and Monte Carlo .

“Teaming up with MSN as the exclusive online automotive sponsor for LiveEarth.MSN.com was natural for Chevy,” Peper says, “because, in addition to our high fuel economy cars and crossovers, Chevy offers more alternative fuel vehicles than anyone. We have over 1.5 million E85 FlexFuel vehicles on the road, cars that can run on a clean-burning, mostly renewable ethanol fuel sources. And, we’ve recently shared our innovations for Fuel Cell technologies in the Equinox and the Volt Concept car – an electric powered car that requires no gasoline and emits zero emissions.”

Chevrolet is one of America ’s most well-known and successful automotive brands. With the largest dealer network in the United States , Chevy is the leader in full-size trucks and the leader in sales of vehicles priced $35,000 and above. In addition, Chevrolet delivers more-than-expected value in every vehicle category, offering cars and trucks priced from $9,995 to $69,175. Offering dynamic yet timeless designs, Chevy owners demand great looks that don’t go out of style, high performance per dollar, and features expected in more expensive vehicles.

On To SF

We managed to get everything (all the bikes, bags, and people) into a giant van that picked us up at 7:30 AM. We had to catch the train to SF out of Seattle, and did not want to miss it.

Eco Trip Beginning

Eco Trip Beginning

I left LA on May 30 with Leslie Gant, the other Eco Trip team member from LA. We landed at SEATAC in Seattle.

It was exciting to see all the “green.” I love Washington and was happy for the trip to start, as we were excited to meet the other Eco Trip team members.

We were taking photos from the start. (Leslie in the Seattle Airport)

Once we got to the Hotel that would become our base for the next couple days, we got the bikes. We all tested them out and made sure the brakes worked.  Michael McGuire with his new bike. He looks ready for an Eco Trip

We did end up getting kick stands for the bikes. (Michael McGuire became the expert at putting them on.)

The first shot of the four Eco Trip team members all together.

At the Microsoft campus, while waiting to meet the Live Spaces team, we got the required Microsoft sign shot.

We got treated to a nice lunch at the Microsoft cafe next to the waterfalls. The Microsoft campus is very green and spacious.

Right from the get go we were navigating the bus routes… we did miss a bus…. but we did get to where we were going.

I jump high, I tried to jump over the sun….

Sunsets in Washington are pretty…..

The 30 second time lapse shot in Kirkland, WA

At the EarthCorps project they had more than 30 people!

The project was on Mercer Island. We took 3 different buses to get there.

All the gloves after the EarthCorps event.

greetings from denmark :-))))
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Goodbye.”
